Judy Bookbinder
Judy, her husband, and two young children moved from Boston’s South End to Sharon in 1975. Since then, she has participated in several town-wide efforts to, first improve upon, then replace the library. As a university teacher of art history, she has been devoted to scholarship, to learning, and to sharing new understandings with people of all ages. She knows that a vibrant library is key to learning at all levels. Judy has been a member of the Board of the Foundation since her retirement from the faculty of Boston College in 2019.
Mary Cohen
Mary Zortman Cohen, Ph.D. works in the Boston Public Schools as a school psychologist. In her work, she has had the pleasure of working with children and adolescents to enhance their educational experiences. It is her belief that creating safe and supportive learning environments allows students to achieve their goals. Mary received her doctorate in school psychology from Indiana State University and completed her internship at McLean Hospital in Boston. In 2017 Mary was named school psychologist of the year for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Sarah Graf
Since moving to Sharon in 1989, the library has been an integral part of Sarah’s life. From bringing her two young daughters to the library weekly to choose books, to being a charter member of the One Book, One Town: Sharon Reads Together committee, Sarah has been a frequent library patron and sponsor. Now retired, Sarah worked in information technology at State Street for over 25 years. She still visits the library almost weekly.
Pat Olken
Pat is a life-long library lover and reader. She’s lived in Sharon for 41 years but grew up in New Jersey. She is very pleased that both of her sons and their wives, and her two oldest grandchildren are readers. Pat served as a Library Trustee for 9 years and as President of The Friends of the Sharon Public Library for another 9 years. Before she retired in 2008, Pat was a middle school guidance counselor. She is committed to making the Sharon Public Library a vital resource for everyone in town. Pat is an avid gardener and arts consumer.
Cheryl Weinstein
When she was a child, Cheryl would rather read than go out and play. She has been on the Board of the Library Trustees since 2012. She also serves on the Nominating Committee of the Finance Committee for the Town of Sharon and is a board member of the Friends of Blue Hills. She is a retired information technology professional. Cheryl has lived in Sharon since 1993.
