Update As of 10/26/2020
The Library Project cannot currently move forward as the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) has denied the required variances. The ZBA and Select Board have delayed the written decision for over 3 months (and counting). Normally a variance decision must be rendered within 14 calendar days. The ZBA and the Select Board have abused the special legislation extending the time period for boards to issue decisions––designed to give relief to boards facing COVID-19 related problems––to delay the project which could result in a loss of the grant if certain milestones are not met.
All legal information and details of the Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program in the below materials have been verified by the Trustees’ attorney and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
